Kazakhstan Boosts EU Exports
Kazakhstan has signed new trade agreements with the European Union, lifting exports by 25% over the past quarter and cementing its role as a key supplier of commodities and food.

Kazakhstan and the European Union have signed a package of trade agreements that analysts say could raise mutual trade volume by nearly a third by 2030. The documents cover energy, metallurgy and the agro-industrial sector.
What the agreements include
The centrepiece is a simplified customs regime for non-commodity exports — from wheat and sunflower oil to chemical products. A separate protocol secures supplies of rare-earth metals, demand for which is rising sharply in the EU amid the green-energy transition.
Over the past quarter, exports to the EU grew by 25%, and for the first time the share of processed goods exceeded that of raw materials. The government calls this a sign of structural change in the economy.
“We are ceasing to be merely a supplier of resources and becoming a full-fledged trading partner of Europe,” a trade ministry representative said.
Experts warn that sustainable growth will require modernising logistics and developing the Trans-Caspian route, which delivers cargo to Europe while bypassing congested corridors.
