Samarkand-2028 Satellite with AI Module Developed by Uzcosmos to Launch on August 5
The Samarkand-2028 hyperspectral satellite is scheduled to launch on August 5 from a sea-based platform off the coast of China's Shandong Province.

The project is being developed by the Chinese company STAR.VISION in partnership with the Uzcosmos Agency.
Uzcosmos specialists have developed an artificial intelligence module for the satellite. The module will enable onboard analysis of satellite data, making data processing faster and more efficient.
Samarkand-2028 is designed for hyperspectral Earth observation. The satellite is equipped with a camera featuring 22 spectral bands, a 300-kilometre swath, and 5-metre spatial resolution. This allows it to capture far more detailed information about the Earth's surface than conventional satellite imaging.
The data collected by the satellite will be used for agriculture, water resource management, environmental monitoring, and urban development.
Indonesia's Lampung-1 satellite will also be launched as part of the same mission.
